Trans-Allegheny Interstate Line (TrAIL)
Aldridge Drilling recently worked with Allegheny Power and Kenny Construction to complete the installation of foundations for a new 180-mile, 500 kV transmission line that runs from Pennsylvania through West Virginia to Virginia.
In all, the team installed a total of 170 mono-pole structures and over 525 four-legged lattice tower structures with a total of 2100 foundations. The extremely mountainous terrain was an additional challenge, as they managed changing elevations, various levels of rock in every foundation, and difficult transport of equipment and material. Also of significance is the impeccable safety record on the project, with more than 200,000 man hours worked without an OSHA-recordable injury.
